Obverse Design: Depicts a younger Benjamin Franklin flying a kite with a key attached, symbolizing his famous 1752 electrical experiments.

  • Inscriptions: LIBERTY, 1706–2006, IN GOD WE TRUST, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN SCIENTIST.
  • Designer: Norman E. Nemeth 

Reverse Design: Features Franklin’s historic 1754 political cartoon of a severed snake labeled with colonial abbreviations.

  • Inscriptions: JOIN, OR DIE, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR.
  • Designer: Charles Vickers
