2016 Bullion Silver Eagles NGC MS-70 (W) FIRST DAY OF ISSUE Struck at West Point Mint

2016 American Silver Eagle - NGC MS-70 - First Day of Issue - Struck at West Point Mint

Offered here is an authentic 2016 American Silver Eagle, certified by NGC as MS-70 First Day of Issue and attributed as Struck at West Point Mint.

The 2016 issue commemorates the 30th anniversary of the American Silver Eagle program, which began in 1986. The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States and has become one of the most widely collected modern U.S. silver coins.

The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's celebrated Walking Liberty design, originally introduced on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916. Liberty is depicted walking toward the rising sun while carrying branches of laurel and oak.

The reverse features John Mercanti's Heraldic Eagle design, depicting an eagle behind a shield with an olive branch and arrows in its talons and thirteen stars positioned above.

This bullion Silver Eagle was struck at the West Point Mint, as identified by NGC through U.S. Mint production and shipping records. Standard bullion Silver Eagles of this type do not carry a physical "W" mintmark on the coin, so the West Point attribution should not be confused with the mintmarked collector versions.

Struck in 99.9% pure silver, the coin contains one troy ounce of silver and carries a legal tender face value of one dollar.

Graded MS-70 by NGC, this example has received the highest numerical Mint State grade assigned by NGC. The First Day of Issue designation further identifies the coin as having met NGC's requirements for this special release designation.
