The 2021 American Silver Eagle represents one of the most significant years in the history of the series. During 2021, the U.S. Mint transitioned from the original Heraldic Eagle reverse to an entirely new reverse design, creating the collectible Type 1 and Type 2 Silver Eagle varieties.

This example is the Type 2 issue, featuring the redesigned American Silver Eagle introduced during the second half of 2021.

The obverse retains Adolph A. Weinman's celebrated Walking Liberty design, originally introduced on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916. For the Type 2 Silver Eagle, the U.S. Mint refreshed the obverse using historical assets and added Weinman's artist mark.

The new Type 2 reverse was designed by Emily Damstra and depicts a single American bald eagle descending while carrying an oak branch in its talons. This design replaced John Mercanti's Heraldic Eagle reverse that had appeared on Silver Eagles since the series began in 1986.

Struck in 99.9% pure silver, the coin contains one troy ounce of silver, carries a legal tender face value of one dollar, and bears the "S" mintmark of the San Francisco Mint.

Graded PR-70 by PCGS, this example has received the highest numerical proof grade assigned by PCGS. The DCAM, or Deep Cameo, designation recognizes the strong contrast between the deeply mirrored fields and sharply frosted design elements.
