The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's celebrated Walking Liberty design, refreshed for the Type 2 Silver Eagle to more closely reflect Weinman's original artistic vision. The updated obverse also includes Weinman's artist mark.

The Type 2 reverse was designed by Emily Damstra and depicts an American bald eagle descending while carrying an oak branch in its talons. The design was sculpted by U.S. Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso.
