2021 Silver Eagle PCGS MS-70 T-2 First Day of Production

2021 American Silver Eagle - PCGS MS-70 - Type 2 - First Day of Production

Offered here is an authentic 2021 American Silver Eagle Type 2, certified by PCGS as MS-70 First Day of Production.

The 2021 American Silver Eagle represents one of the most significant transition years in the history of the series. During 2021, the U.S. Mint replaced the original Heraldic Eagle reverse used since 1986 with an entirely new reverse design, creating the collectible Type 1 and Type 2 Silver Eagle issues.

This example is the Type 2 issue, featuring the new Eagle Landing reverse introduced during 2021.

The obverse retains Adolph A. Weinman's celebrated Walking Liberty design, originally introduced on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916. For the Type 2 Silver Eagle, the U.S. Mint refreshed the historic obverse to more closely reflect Weinman's original artistic vision and added his artist mark.

The Type 2 reverse was designed by Emily Damstra and depicts an American bald eagle descending while carrying an oak branch in its talons. The design was sculpted by U.S. Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso.

Struck in 99.9% fine silver, the coin contains one troy ounce of silver and carries a legal tender face value of one dollar.

Graded MS-70 by PCGS, this example has received the highest numerical Mint State grade assigned by PCGS.

The First Day of Production designation provides additional collector interest by identifying this example with PCGS's special certification attribution for coins associated with the first day of production of the new Type 2 American Silver Eagle.
