2020-W Silver Eagle NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue Burnished

2020-W Burnished American Silver Eagle - NGC MS-70 - First Day of Issue

Offered here is an authentic 2020-W Burnished American Silver Eagle, struck at the West Point Mint and certified by NGC as MS-70 First Day of Issue.

The American Silver Eagle has been one of the most widely collected modern U.S. silver coin series since its introduction in 1986. In addition to standard bullion and proof issues, the U.S. Mint produces a special collector version commonly known as the Burnished Silver Eagle, distinguished by its satin-like finish and West Point mintmark.

The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's celebrated Walking Liberty design, originally introduced on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916. Liberty is depicted walking toward the rising sun while carrying branches of laurel and oak.

The reverse features John Mercanti's classic Heraldic Eagle design, depicting an eagle behind a shield with an olive branch and arrows in its talons and thirteen stars positioned above. The 2020 issue is especially notable as one of the final Burnished Silver Eagles to feature this original reverse before the American Silver Eagle transitioned to the new Eagle Landing reverse in 2021.

The 2020 Burnished Silver Eagle was struck at the West Point Mint and bears the distinctive "W" mintmark.

Struck in 99.9% fine silver, the coin contains one troy ounce of silver and carries a legal tender face value of one dollar.

Graded MS-70 by NGC, this example has received the highest numerical Mint State grade assigned by NGC.

The First Day of Issue designation identifies this example as having met NGC's special requirements for certification associated with the coin's first day of release.
