2012-S Proof Silver Eagle NGC PF-70 San Francisco Eagle Set UCAM

2012-S Proof American Silver Eagle - NGC PF-70 Ultra Cameo - San Francisco Eagle Set

Offered here is an authentic 2012-S Proof American Silver Eagle, struck at the San Francisco Mint and certified by NGC as PF-70 Ultra Cameo, with the San Francisco Eagle Set pedigree.

The 2012-S Proof Silver Eagle is a special issue within the American Silver Eagle series. It was released as part of the 2012 American Eagle San Francisco Two-Coin Silver Proof Set, which paired a traditional Proof Silver Eagle with a Reverse Proof Silver Eagle. NGC recognizes qualifying coins from this special release with the San Francisco Eagle Set pedigree.

The 2012-S issue was especially significant because it represented the first Proof American Silver Eagle struck at the San Francisco Mint since 1992.

The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's celebrated Walking Liberty design, originally introduced on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in 1916. Liberty is depicted walking toward the rising sun while carrying branches of laurel and oak.

The reverse features John Mercanti's classic Heraldic Eagle design, depicting an eagle behind a shield with an olive branch and arrows in its talons and thirteen stars positioned above.

The coin was struck at the San Francisco Mint and bears the distinctive "S" mintmark.

Struck in 99.9% fine silver, the coin contains one troy ounce of silver and carries a legal tender face value of one dollar.

Graded PF-70 by NGC, this example has received the highest numerical proof grade assigned by NGC. The Ultra Cameo designation recognizes the strong contrast between the deeply mirrored fields and sharply frosted design elements.
