1934 Half Dollars Liberty Walking NGC MS-64

1934 Walking Liberty Half Dollar - NGC MS-64

Offered here is an authentic 1934 Walking Liberty Half Dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint and certified by NGC as MS-64.

The 1934 Walking Liberty half dollar is a notable mid-series issue in Adolph A. Weinman’s classic design of 1916–1947. Production rose sharply in 1934 after several low-output years, and the Philadelphia date is one of the more available early “short-set” Walkers in mint state.

The 1934 Philadelphia half dollar had a mintage of 6,964,000 coins. While common relative to the scarcer 1934-D and 1934-S issues, NGC MS-64 examples remain a popular certified grade for date, type, and short-set collectors.

The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated Walking Liberty design, later reused on the American Silver Eagle. Liberty is shown striding toward the sunrise, draped in the American flag, with the date 1934 below.

The reverse features Weinman’s eagle perched on a mountain pine, with the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and HALF DOLLAR.

The coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint and bears no mintmark.

Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, the coin contains 0.36169 troy ounce of silver, weighs 12.50 grams, and has a reeded edge.

Graded MS-64 by NGC, this example is a fully mint-state coin with strong luster and only minor contact marks consistent with the grade. It has not received the highest mint-state numbers, but MS-64 remains a widely collected certified level for this date.
