2022-W $50 American Gold Eagle — 1 oz Burnished, NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue
A stunning 2022-W American Gold Eagle, struck at the West Point Mint and certified NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue. This limited-production Burnished Gold Eagle combines the intrinsic value of one ounce of gold with the collectible appeal of a modern U.S. Mint issue.
The Burnished American Gold Eagle is specially struck for collectors using a carefully prepared planchet that produces its distinctive matte, satin-like finish. The 2022-W issue had a limited maximum mintage of only 9,000 coins, making it one of the scarcer modern Burnished Gold Eagles.
The obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens' iconic depiction of Liberty, carrying a torch and olive branch with the rays of the rising sun behind her. The reverse features the updated American Eagle design by Jennie Norris, depicting a detailed eagle portrait.
Certified MS-70, this coin received the highest numerical grade available from NGC. The First Day of Issue designation further identifies it as a coin submitted under NGC's requirements for coins purchased on the first day of the U.S. Mint's release.
